ECONOMIC JUSTICE

Consistent with its guiding principles on Empowerment, Equality, Special Needs and Coordinated Response, the NJCBW is committed to ending poverty as a barrier to women and children’s ability to live safely. The NJCBW will join with other groups to increase battered women’s access to financial, housing, employment, legal and medical resources, in order to enhance their ability to become self-sufficient.

The Economic Justice program is charged with examining issues of economic empowerment of domestic violence survivors beyond what the Welfare system offers. In addition to advocacy around Family Violence Option and Welfare issues, there is an added emphasis to explore additional economic resources, build new partnerships, and initiate programs that will strengthen the capacity of NJCBW member programs to provide better economic advocacy to their clients.
